Born Wilma Lee Leary, songwriter and songster Wilma Lee Cooper was raised in a well-known beautiful-sounding group that sang at limited churches and festivals, billing themselves during the time that the Leary Family. At one specify, the Learys were even invited through Eleanor Roosevelt to work out at a public folk festival. Upon graduating from exalted sect Wilma obtained a degree in banking at Davis and Elkins College. Near the one and the same time she met and married guitarist Stoney Cooper.
